Just Better Care Canberra Wins ‘Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award’
Just Better Care Canberra has won the prestigious 2014 Australian Training Award for ‘Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award’ which recognises those employers who have made innovative improvements in training which benefit the outcomes for their apprentices and/or trainees in Australia.
The Australian Government Awards ceremony held in Adelaide on Friday 21 November 2014 brought together the best organisations, training providers and individuals in the country to recognise their contribution to the vocational education and training sector.
Just Better Care Canberra were selected as a Finalist alongside international companies TNT and Bechtel.
Just Better Care Canberra (JBCC) provides in-home community support to a range of clients, including those who are frail, unwell, living with disability or receiving palliative care. JBCC offers support services such as domestic assistance, social respite, palliative care, transport and high-needs disability care. JBCC employs 36 Australian Apprentices and trainees, three of whom have a disability. Over the past three years, more than 50 traineeships have been completed, with employees receiving a Certificate IV in Disability. JBCC believes that the community sector offers great opportunities for job seekers and its recruitment activities have resulted in employment offers being made to people across a range of ages and backgrounds.
Managing Director, Mr Fergus Nelson, accepted the award and thanked the Australian Training Awards judges for recognising the commitment and support that JBCC give to their employees, providing them with formal skills and qualifications to allow them to confidently do the work they love in the Canberra local community sector.
